Students from universities around the world compete in creating projects based on the blockchain technology. Students are required to write a whitepaper and present it. The projects are judged by a panel of judges from companies and universities from around the world. Students also have the opportunity to receive proposals for placements from partnering companies. To make the competition accessible to most courses, creating a prototype is not necessary, but in doing so teams get the opportunity to compete for a second award for the best prototype.
